KUALA LUMPUR, 28 June 2012 –Malaysia is set to take the global music arena by storm this July as MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia 2012 arrives at local shores for its fourth consecutive year. The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) under the auspices of Malaysian Tourism Ministry proudly announced their partnership and alliance with Viacom International Media Networks in supporting MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia 2012. Present at the press conference was the honorable Minister of Tourism, YB. Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, Ms. Indra Suharjono, EVP/Managing Director Asia, Viacom International Media Networks and Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB, Mr. Zulkefli Haji Sharif.
Mr. Zulkefli Haji Sharif said that supporting events of international stature such as this has always been an integral part of their key plans for the event industry.
"In line with MyCEB's commitment to strengthening Malaysia's tourism industry and position as the preferred choice for international events, we are proud to be part of MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia this year.  We see MTV World Stage as an event with international standing that will place Malaysia on the global map as a hub of Southeast Asian music festivals. “We expect MTV World Stage to draw an international crowd of 3,500 visitors to the Surf Beach @ Sunway Lagoon on the 14th of next month creating a significant contribution of at least RM12 million to Malaysia's economy," he added

Justin Bieber is making a very special stop in Malaysia from his worldwide tour just to perform at World Stage. We’re bringing in Kara to perform for the first time in Malaysia.  They will be sharing the stage with one of Malaysia’s favourite K-pop stars Jay Park and the country’s popular singer-songwriter Mizz Nina. And like the past years, MTV World Stage will continue to showcase Malaysia to millions of viewers around the world as truly one of Asia’s best entertainment destinations.  We’ll work closely with MyCEB and our other partners to make this year’s World Stage Live in Malaysia the biggest one yet.
The event will be produced into a two-hour TV show which will premier on MTV‘s Southeast Asia channel on 28 July 2012 at 12:30 (WIB), 1:30pm (SG/HK/PHIL) and 2:30pm (MAL). An hour-long version will also be broadcast later in the year which will reach an international audience of almost 600 million households through MTV’s global network of 60 channels in over 150 territories.
Music fans can stand a chance to win exclusive passes to MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia 2012 by taking part in an online contest ( or obtaining them through MTV Asia’s give away as instant wins through multiple game sessions everyday.  MTV will also hold a roadshow on July 7 & 8 at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall, Pyramid Concourse where fans will also get chances to win more passes.  On the day of the show, MTV will be using Instagram and Twitter to engage audiences.  Fans can upload their photos taken at the event onto Instagram with the hashtag #worldstagemy and MTV will showcase the best photos throughout the show on the screens at Surf Beach.  Audiences may also choose to follow the hashtag #worldstagemy on Twitter and do their own live reporting of World Stage Live In Malaysia 2012.

About the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB)
MyCEB was established in 2009 by Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia to further strengthen Malaysia’s business tourism brand and position for the international business events market. A non-profit organisation, MyCEB serves as a central hub to assist meeting and event planners to bid for and stage international business events in Malaysia and act as a conduit for national product development. MyCEB’s goal is to improve its rankings as an international meetings destination within ICCA and to grow business tourism arrivals to Malaysia.
